Sometimes the way to change policy is not to pass a law — but to go to court. MJI is the litigation arm of MCPP.

One way of changing public policy is through legislation. Another is to litigate — using the rights enshrined in both the Mississippi and U.S. constitutions to defend individual liberty. That is what our legal arm, the Mississippi Justice Institute (MJI), does. Founded in 2016, MJI represents Mississippians whose constitutional rights are threatened by government action.

Cases we have won

  • Entrepreneurs threatened by officialdom for lacking the "right" permits — restrictions we showed were unconstitutional.
  • Students facing on-campus intolerance of their conservative views — we won them space to speak.
  • A dietician threatened with prosecution for giving advice on what to eat — protected by free expression.
  • Churches threatened with lockdowns — we showed a mayor had no business barring outdoor services.
  • Residents whose open-carry rights were undermined by a local mayor.

If your constitutional rights have been threatened by government action, we may be able to help.
